Boebert Apologizes Again for Vaping Incident

Subsequent Apology Follows Ejection from Capitol Building

Representative Admits to 'Momentary Lapse in Judgment'

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2023 — Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has issued a second apology after video emerged of her vaping inside the Capitol building. The incident led to her being ejected from the House chamber on Friday.

In a statement released on Sunday, Boebert said she "deeply regrets" her actions, calling them "a momentary lapse in judgment." She also acknowledged that her behavior "violated House rules and was disrespectful to the institution."

Boebert's apology comes after she was widely criticized for her vaping incident. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said he was "deeply disappointed" by Boebert's actions, and the Ethics Committee has launched an investigation.

Boebert is a hard-right Republican who is known for her fiery rhetoric. She is a member of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of conservative lawmakers who often oppose leadership.

Despite her apology, Boebert's future in the House is uncertain. The Ethics Committee investigation could lead to her being censured or even expelled from Congress.
