Deadly Tornado Outbreak Strikes Southern Oklahoma

At Least Four Fatalities Reported, Widespread Damage

Tornado Watch Remains in Effect for Oklahoma City Metro Area

At least four people have been killed and dozens injured after a severe tornado outbreak swept through southern Oklahoma overnight. Widespread damage to homes and businesses has been reported in several towns, including Holdenville, where a tornado ripped through the community of approximately 5,000 people late Saturday evening, claiming the lives of two residents and leaving four others injured.

According to officials, the tornado outbreak left a trail of destruction across the region, with at least four people confirmed dead, including an infant. The storms, which brought strong winds and heavy rains, also caused widespread power outages and disrupted communications.

As of early Sunday morning, a tornado watch remains in effect for much of the News 9 viewing area, including the Oklahoma City metro area, until 3:00 AM. Residents are urged to seek shelter immediately if a tornado warning is issued for their area.

Emergency responders are currently conducting search and rescue operations in the affected areas, and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is coordinating relief efforts. The Red Cross has also deployed teams to assist those impacted by the tornadoes.
